BetGames has launched Skyward Storm, the third title in its crash range, following the original Skyward and the follow-up Skyward Deluxe. The announcement landed on 1 September 2026, and the short version is that this one hands players more levers to pull during each flight.

What Is New in Skyward Storm

The Lightning mechanic is the other new piece, and it can trigger more than once per flight. Lightning Boosts increase the active multiplier. Lightning Strikes pull it down. Safe Altitude is the closest thing here to a safety net. Once a flight has passed a set multiplier, the game guarantees a return on your stake even if the plane flies away before you cash out. The Social Side Stays
Skyward Storm keeps the Sky Drops free games from earlier titles, along with the social layer BetGames has built around the series: Winboards, Leaderboards and Community Jackpots. That side of things was the main selling point of Skyward Deluxe, and it has carried over rather than been replaced.

Ian Catchick, chief product and business development officer at BetGames, described the game as the most complete crash title the studio has built, and said it merges the community features of Skyward Deluxe with deeper in-game mechanics. He credited Quad Play with giving players more control and Safe Altitude with adding a strategic element. That is the company line, and it is fair enough as far as it goes.
What It Means for Players
Crash games have picked up a following in South Africa over the past few years, so a third instalment with more mechanics is not a surprise. Whether the extra features actually improve the game depends on how much you enjoy managing four bets at once. Some players will like the added control. Others will find it turns a thirty-second round into admin.
One thing worth keeping in mind: Safe Altitude smooths out results, but a guaranteed return in some rounds does not change the underlying house edge. It changes how the losses arrive, not whether they do.
